Wednesday Wanderers Report

Report of Wednesday Wanderings:
For our July outing, 15 members partook of a meal followed by the PIRTON Classic Car
show. The Lunch time meal was at the Motte and Bailey in Pirton where we all had a good
catch up and chat followed by food in the pub with an area all to ourselves. We then
convoyed to the show where we had a club stand area reserved for us, luckily this was near
the trees so shade for us but the cars parked far enough away to not get covered in sap! The
weather was good to us which made for a very pleasant day out. The selection of cars at the
show was good with a nice mixture of vintage, classic and modern classics. Some stalls, a
cake stand and a bar with live music followed by a nice drive home – sorted.
The next planned event is….A Picnic – venue to be confirmed..

The Next Club Events

August is full month with something on every weekend.

We attended as a club to the Rushden Classic Car Show with 5 cars – 6 if you count the MG Support Vehicle and managed to get a mention on the radio as well as a YouTube Video and someone might have got a Trophy for Best Pre War car.

This show was like a walk back in time with over 40 stands, 100’s of visitors and over 450 cars and bikes, one for our regular calendar for next year.

The South Beds Classic Vehicle Show on Sunday as mentioned above, will see us out in force on
the club stand, marshalling, charity fund raising and helping to set up – meal after?

Then we have the Flitwick Car, Bus and Motorcycle Show on the 18th – no club stand but we will
convoy in and park together in Field A.

On 25th we have a club stand booked at Knebworth Classic Motor Show, again we will need to convoy in but we also have the club stand booked for the bank holiday Monday so can attend on both days.

Finally for August it’s Saturday 31st with the Redbourn Classics Motor Show & Village Fete – this show starts at midday and is pre-booked ticket only and I believe it’s now fully booked those going do you want to arrive together?.

The 1st September is the Red Lion in Upper Sundon – a classic car meet we attended last year and will be attending again as it was a nice event – we will convoy in again and meeting point is Streatley lay-by and leaving at 10:45 so please arrive before.

Pub Night

Pub Night will be on Tuesday 20th August (around 20:30 or earlier if dining) at the
Farmers Boy, 216 Common Road, Kensworth, Dunstable. LU6 2PJ Tel. 01582 872207

Events coming up.

Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow, however the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book on-line with various options employed for the club stand option, examples are:- Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton .

Some shows are turn up only and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible.
