Wednesday Wanderers Report
Report of Wednesday wanderings:
For our June outing, 9 members took the drive to Greys Court, a N.T. property near Henley. First port of call was the café which thankfully was air-conditioned as it was a very hot day, so our arrival drink merged into lunch. We explored various sections of the grounds including a rose garden and a walled garden full of mixed flowers. All around the estate was an exhibition of contrasting sculptures, mostly of birds and animals, some of metal, some wire and some plaster. The most expensive I saw was a representation of a murmuration of starlings in stainless steel, a bargain at just over £3,600. Some members also looked around the Tudor manor house. When returning to our cars, we were all rather envious of those modern cars with aircon.
The next planned event is….PIRTON on the 31st July with a meal before the show and a club stand at the show, making a day of it.
The Next Club Events
July is a bit sparse but we do have the club stand at Kimbolton on the 14th July. The meeting point is Clophill for those going in convoy and we will be departing for the show at 8:30am. we have an alternative club stand at the Plough at Wingfield Classic Car Show on the same day and I have booked a Club Space for 6 cars and a gazebo.
Then on Sunday the 21st July we have either the Bedford River Festival or the Monogram Z Show – both are individual entry events as they are specific to Monogram Z cars or entry acceptance by the organisers only.
We also have a couple of Wednesday events – Classics on the common on the 24th July which we have club members on an individual entry or just as a spectator visiting and the Wednesday Wanderings to PIRTON on the 31st July which is in Janets WW email.
Rushden Classic Car Show on the 4th August the 4th is before our next meeting and if we want a club stand I will need £5 in advance for those attending by Thursday.
Pub Night will be on Tuesday 16th July (around 20:30 or earlier if dining) at the King William IV, Mangrove Green, Cockernhoe, Luton. LU2 8QE Tel. 01582 728086
Events coming up
Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow, however the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book on-line with various options employed for the club stand option, examples are:- Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton . Some shows are turn up only and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible.
Kimbolton Country Fayre & Classic Car Show is on Sunday the 14th July, we have a club stand booked and those attending should already have booked a ticket on line with the issued code, you also have the option to pay on the gate and if you have advised myself or David will have a space on the club stand. The convoy to the show is from Clophill leaving at 8:30am
Classics on the Common – Harpenden on the 24th July. This is an individual entry event and we have some club members exhibiting and some just attending as spectators.

Rushden Classic Car Show on the 4th August – Tickets on-line as this is a pre-booked show only – Ive enquired about a club stand and if we want this I will need £5 by Thursday as we need to get the application in for Friday. This show is limited to 400 cars only (pre 1999 unless on a club stand) and meeting point will be at Clophill, leaving time TBC.
The 10th South Beds Classic Vehicle Show is on the 11th August – again those willing to Marshal you get free entry…..please register on line and anyone intending to help out please make yourself known to either myself for marshalling or Bridget/Janet for club stand helpers
