Welcome everyone, to the Tuesday 4 June 2024 edition of the club’s newsletter.
Club Business
Can those attending the Luton Someries Festival of Transport please confirm to me that you have registered and will be attending on the club’s stand, so I have an idea of numbers and can reserve spaces and the gazebo (also looking for a volunteer to pick up the gazebo at Dunstable and take it to Luton).
The Clubs Treasure Hunt will be on Sunday the 30th June – Stuart has more details.
Wednesday Wanderers Report
Report of Wednesday Wanderings and the next planned event if known:
At the end of May, only 8 intrepid members made the 100 mile round trip to Upton House and Gardens just beyond Banbury. The house has a fine collection of European art, Serves tableware and Chelsea porcelain figures. The gardens are steeply terraced with many shrubs and flowers, leading down to a large Mirror Pool. Contrary to the forecast, it kept fine and mostly sunny so we were able to enjoy lunch outside.
The Next Club Events
Dunstable Classic Motor Rally on the 8th June
We have a busy weekend coming up with both the Dunstable Classic Motor Rally on the 8th and the Luton Someries Festival of Transport on the 9th June – We have a club stand for Dunstable and all those who added their details to the entry form have been emailed their entry tickets – these have to be printed out and displayed on your windscreen (or phone) when entering the show – classic cars must be in by 9:30am as this is when the gate is closed – the H&S sheet and entry instructions have been emailed to everyone just in case. For those wanting to arrive together, we will be meeting at Greggs Car Park at 8:30am
Luton Someries Festival of Transport Sunday the 9th
Sunday the 9th is the Luton Someries Festival of Transport. Again we have a club stand and registration is via our websites Events Calendar link. I need to know numbers by the end of this meeting so I can confirm our pitch size. I suggest just turning up for this one as we have done in years past and I will WhatsApp out where we are, so you can find us.
Classics in the Park at Houghton Hall Park on Sunday the 23rd June
We also have the Classics in the Park at Houghton Hall Park on Sunday the 23rd June. This show has no club stands and is parking by age category. Meeting point is at Tesco car park at 8:30am. If you’re going direct, remember you have to be in and parked by 9:30am.
Pub Night will be on Tuesday 18th June (around 20:30 or earlier if dining) at the Fancott Arms, Luton Road Fancott Toddington. LU5 6HT Tel. 01525 872366
Events coming up
Club stands will be booked if the organisers of the shows allow, however the recent trend is for organisers to only allow individuals to book on-line with various options employed for the club stand, examples are:- Club Name for Chiltern Hills Rally and a club code issued for Kimbolton . Some shows are turn up only and a few are display by age – we will endeavour to advise you of how and when to book your tickets well in advance where possible.
The 33rd Luton Someries Festival of Transport on the 9th June – Those willing to marshal / Judge can get free entry
Houghton Hall Parks Classics in the Park 2024 on the 23rd June Tickets are available HERE and entry fee is £5 per vehicle and there are trophies for winners of each category and rosettes for runners up. Vehicles must be in before 9:30am
Kimbolton Country Fayre & Classic Car Show is on the 17th July, we have a club stand booked but please do not book a ticket yet, we need a code to align you with the club stand and this code will be issued to us nearer to the event by the organisers and shared with you so you can buy your ticket.
