The MGPB broke down outside the entrance to Sywell Aerodrome when attending the Pistons and Props event.
After considerable attention and offers of help the AA had to be called and for the first time ever I had to be transported home.
The AA guy was baffled by the basic engineering of the 1935 car and gave up trying to fix it at the road side., so the car was trailered home.
Upon inspection the problem became very clear.
The drive shaft had come loose and the output from the gearbox had sheared right off.
One of the club members David Gregory , engineered a new end for the shaft and we milled this into the existing shaft after I dismantled the car and gearbox to get it out.
There were some trials and tribulations re-assembling the gearbox and the car is now back on the road
