Report for our Wednesday Wanderers

For the August outing, just 8 members in four cars took a pleasant drive up to Grafham Water. We started with a cuppa in the café then moved up to the end of the long car park and set up camp within sight of the huge reservoir. We all enjoyed our picnic lunches, frequently visited by several large dragonflies, but thankfully no wasps! After a slice of surprise cake kindly supplied by Lynda, unfortunately the rain set in so we had to decamp fairly quickly and reload the cars. The clouds seemed to be following us on the way home but luckily not much rain.
This Month’s Events
South Bedfordshire classic car show was held on the 13th August here at the Cross Keys.
What an excellent show we had 400 classic cars in attendance with 20 MGs on display from our own cars from the club, and over all we had a line-up of 47 MGs on the line a super turn out.
The weather was kind to us; early morning cups of tea of coffee were provided by the ladies of the club who also did a collection for the Hospices, well done ladies.
Pirton Classic Car Show
The Club attended a mid-week show at Pirton, we had ten cars in attendance with most of us meeting up near the crem in Stopsley.
It was a well-attended show with a variety of classics on display.
Our only problem was that our club banner was run over and suffered some terminal damage to the swivel pivot; luckily I have managed to find a direct replacement which is on order.
Events To Attend 2023
This month the club has elected to attend the Piston and Props show at Sywell which is on the 24th of this month.
For those who wish to travel in convoy we meet at the lay by at the bottom of Church Road Streatly near the roundabout on the A6 at the top of Barton cutting.

Wales Trip 2023
Brian and Teresa have made a suggestion for a club holiday/long week end break for next year.
A family in Wales who organize classic car club trips and is popular with many car club trips.
The farm Itself is called Lynn and Martin Hadley with Sons Andrew & Mark Hadley Hotels Ltd. Trading as Llanerchindda Farm Guest House & Self Catering Cottages,Cynghordy,Llandovery,SA20 ONB,
The full details of what they offer is on page 58 of the club magazine August edition which show`s exactly what they offer, having done some homework with them they have come back to me with some dates and the amount of people they could accommodate on the limited dates that they can currently offer for 2024. The available dates are as today.
Monday 29 April ———Thursday 2nd May 11 Rooms available
Friday 10th May———-Monday 13th May 11 Rooms available
Monday 26th August——-Thursday29th August 13rooms available.
The package all comes with Dinner Bed & Breakfast with a number of goodies in each room so I understand from the club mentioned in the magazine to include route maps visiting some areas which would be great for all of the member`s cars.
It looks like the breaks are very popular hence only a few dates and rooms are available, whilst they are yet to set prices for 2024 they have told me that this year they are charging, £310 per. person for the 3 day break which is what they offer to clubs.
If anyone is interested in this venue then could you let Brian and Teresa know without delay.
Pub Night
Pub Night will be on the19th of September to be held at wait for it, !!!!!
